About

Experience the extraordinary sounds of chamber music in the beautiful and vibrant setting of the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, under the artistic direction of HSO Concertmaster Leonid Sigal and featuring Hartford Symphony Orchestra musicians. Concerts are presented in collaboration with the Wadsworth Atheneum’s special exhibitions and permanent collections.

Members of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra perform a concert of chamber music featuring Sir Edward Elgar’s Violin Sonata in E minor, op. 82 (1918) alongside works by William Bolcom and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Join us in the galleries before the performance as the Wadsworth’s Director Dr. Matthew Hargraves examines an important portrait by George Frederic Watts of Lady Lindsay playing a violin within the context of the Aestheticism movement.

The Sunday Serenades Chamber Music Series is made possible in part by The Saunders Foundation Music Endowment at the Wadsworth Atheneum in honor of Leonid Sigal, concertmaster, Hartford Symphony Orchestra
