The Hartford Symphony Orchestra provides outreach throughout the greater Hartford area. Our programs provide a high-quality musical experience to strengthen relationships among the community. The broad spectrum of musical activities engages, educates, and enriches our community with the profound and transforming experience of live music.

HSO Extended

HSO Extended features performances that span a wide range of musical genres and traditions. Some HSO Extended programs include:

Press Play: Press Play is a a genre-blending concert series held in a relaxed setting in collaboration with J Under the Dome.
We also offer a number of free concerts. Past concerts have included our annual MLK Tribute concert, Symphony in the Park, and more!

Library Concerts

We hold a number of free, family-friendly performances at local libraries including Avon, Farmington, Hartford, and Simsbury. These performances bring orchestral music into local libraries and inspire audiences of all ages.

Musicians Care Project

An outreach program where we bring the music to audiences that may not be able to attend at a larger venue. HSO musicians perform in a variety of settings, including health care centers and senior living communities, to offer moments of peace, connections and emotional healing through music.

Strings of Hope

In partnership with an area church and temples, Strings of Hope brings HSO ensembles into sacred community spaces for a performance of inspiration and connection. The intimate concert invites spiritual reflection through classical music, underscoring the power of music to uplift and unify.
