Samantha Donato

Samantha is incredibly excited to join the Hartford Symphony as a fellow. Her musical education began at the Eastman School of Music with James VanDemark where she received her BM. She then went on to Boston University to obtain her Masters of Music under Edwin Barker, and is currently finishing her Performance Diploma at the same institution under Ben Levy. Presently, she holds a principal position in the DuBois Symphony and Boston Opera Collaborative, and is a section bassist in the Cape Ann Symphony and Boston Chamber Symphony Orchestra. She can also be found playing with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Atlantic Symphony, Chorus of Westerly, and many other ensembles. Recently, she sat principal bass at the Prague Summer Nights Festival, where she led two performances of Don Giovanni in the very hall where Mozart originally premiered the work. Outside of music, Sam finds joy in running with friends, spending time with her cat, and watching Formula 1 races on Sundays.
