
Mikel Rollet
Mikel Rollet, a Florida native, is a newly appointed violist of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. He is a recent graduate of The Juilliard School, where he studied with Cynthia Phelps, Heidi Castleman, and Hsin-Yun Huang. Previously, he earned a Young Artists Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music under Jeffrey Irvine. Rollet has received recognition in competitions including the Sphinx Competition, the Ohio Viola Society Competition, and the Viola Visions Young Artist Competition at the New World Symphony, where he performed for Kim Kashkashian, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Tabea Zimmermann.
He has appeared at leading festivals such as Aspen, Tanglewood, Heifetz, Music Academy, Pacific Music Festival (Japan), and the Moritzburg Festival Academy (Germany). Most recently, he took part in the National Arts Centre Orchestra Mentorship Programme in Ottawa, Canada, prior to joining the Hartford Symphony.
