Robert Bruce is a Boston-based violist whose work spans a wide range of styles and genres. His artistic practice focuses on expanding the role of the modern violist and moving beyond traditional boundaries of classical performance. He is a member of Beacon Ensemble, a Boston-based chamber group dedicated to crafting engaging narratives through performances of 20th- and 21st-century music. The ensemble supports early-career musicians and artists in New England and beyond, offering opportunities to participate in commissions and other career-developing projects. Robert also performs with hornist Amber Dai as part of the duo Bad Time to Scream, a collaboration devoted to commissioning new works, championing living composers, and exploring new sonic landscapes. He holds both a BM and an MM from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he studied under Professor Rictor Noren.
